Iron Oak is the name of the one-acre property where this weather project is based in Benavides, Texas. The name comes from the oak trees growing on the property. What began as a personal home weather station is becoming a local weather-intelligence resource for Benavides, Duval County, and the surrounding South Texas ranch area.

Meet Ricardo.
Ricardo is a lifelong resident of Benavides, a weather enthusiast, and a trained SKYWARN Storm Spotter. With more than 20 years of experience in the public-safety sector, he understands how important clear, timely, and responsibly sourced weather information can be.
He created IRONOAKWX to give fellow weather enthusiasts and local residents a dependable place to stay informed about weather affecting Benavides, Duval County, and the surrounding South Texas ranch area.
